Stanwood Sound Tune Up Day – November 8th, 2008
What?
Training and Consulting on mixing for live worship service.
Who?
Steve Smith (Former Overlake Christian Church technical director, 33 years of industry experience including mixing on numerous platinum and gold selling albums with 2 Grammy Awards among them. For more information on him and his company House of Worship Resource Team, visit www.howrt.com)
How? Steve Smith will come and do some training and mixing in your church sanctuary, using the gear you have right now. All the sound techs can follow Steve around and learn from him. Primary focus will be on getting the most out of the equipment you already have, but suggestions for equipment additions, acoustic treatments, may come up.
What about the worship team?
You will want to have a full worship team on hand that will play some of their favorite tunes, at the whim of the sound techs.
Worship team should be ready to play at the drop of a hat, slow, fast, loud, soft, just a particular instrument, all together, … whatever the sound techs need for a change!
Where?
In our church sanctuaries!
Why?
The role of the technical team is essential and it is hard to provide feedback and get training. Because every room sounds different and every instrument is different, it can be hard to apply “general” rules to mixing. You can get music lessons at every music store. Where else can you get private “mixing” lessons?
Why Multiple churches?
In order to maximize the time and training, we can do work at a couple of churches in the same area.
This gives us a very short “commute”time. We will get to learn about tech principles that are universal, and ones that are specific.
It will give us a chance to compare to other gear, other acoustics.
It will also give our sound techs from different churches a chance to meet each other.
When?
Saturday, November 8th, 2008
Timeslots: 10-12-2-4-6-8
How many churches?
4 or 5 churches, +- 2 hours each.
