Mike and Karen Rodin have been sharing their knowledge and insights into how to deal with various cults in Adult Sunday School. The first minute or so of audio is pretty garbled, but after that, it gets much better. Enjoy

Despite the sagging economy and an unfinished multi-million dollar building project of their own, members of Cedarhome Baptist Church in Stanwood were able to raise over $10,000 for rescuing teenage moms and their babies caught in a web of human trafficking. Former congresswoman for Washington State, Linda Smith heads an organization called Shared Hope International took part of her vacation to come out and receive the symbolic $10,000 check that represented the giving of Cedarhome’s members over the last 6 months through everything from sales of prayer bracelets to the bake sale of 2nd grader Khyla Boyer (seen above) which brought in over $600.
Cedarhome’s next project – sending ‘high-risk’ kids from the Hilltop & Eastside areas of Tacoma to summer camp at Warm Beach. The goal is to help 50 kids attend camp this summer.
We recorded a rough track version with the whole band tonight and it sounds pretty smokin’ if I do say so myself! Woohoo! God Rocks! I want to be like him!
Listen for yourself and let me know what you think.

Make me the man You’ve called me to be
Strong and courageous, tender and sweet
Ready for battle, filled with your love
Cunning as a serpent, innocent as a dove
I am nothing without you
But I can do anything through you, you, you!
In the world it’s twisted upside down
Where the strong consume the weak
Give me the strength to love like Jesus
Who gave his life for his enemies

On Sunday night I drove the 6 hours up to Kelowna, BC to visit Sam and Milena Geleynse, as well as get a peak into the “Canada West School of Worship“. It was a great time to catch up with all that has been going on at “The Well”, which is the churchplant that Sam and Milena lead worship for. It was also neat to meet the students from the school of worship who were from all over the world: Australia, Germany, Holland, Trinidad, plus a few Canadians and US thrown in. Norm Strauss, from the Kelowna Vineyard Church is the director of the school and he was gracious enough to spend some time with us. It was fascinating to hear that both of these churches are heavily involved in reaching out to the community, even taking one Sunday a month and instead of having worship services, they actually go right out in the community and do acts of service as their worship for the morning! May God bless them all richly.
The guest speaker for the day we visited was Heather Clark and her main topic for the day was “give the little you have” and it was a moving and inspiring testimony of the journey that the Lord has brought her on.
As we were talking about some of the difficulties and joys of reaching out to the hurting in our communities, and after hearing from Heather and reading over the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 in Matthew 14, we spent a few hours working really hard to craft a song. It wasn’t easy, but it was a wonderful time of working out the words to this prayer and one of our first tries for all of us at a true co-writing situation. This song includes words and melodies contributed by all of us!
Tonight I took it to the worship team and they had a couple more suggestions for making the words even better, and then we were able to make a demo recording tonight for your listening pleasure. Enjoy.

Jesus You’re Enough
Precious Lord, we’re answering Your call
To gather the people and bring them to Jesus
On our own, we can’t do much at all
We ourselves are bruised and shattered, so take us as we are
Jesus, You’re enough, You fill our deepest longings
You still our endless hunger, Your love satisfies
We come to you so thirsty, You open up the floodgates
Pouring out Your Spirit on our hearts so dry
Jesus, You’re enough
The crowd is so needy, the task is overwhelming
Broken people, wounds so deep
We want to push them all away
The little we have to offer, we give to You completely
Multiply these few things and turn them into plenty
