Our Summer Helping the Hurting Project: Love a Child—Haitian Mobile Medical Clinics

Our Goal: Raise $5000 in 5 months for 5 clinics

Over $6,000 was raised to help send SOZO kids to camp this summer. This means that Cedarhome has sent over 100 SOZO kids to camp over the last 3 summers.

$5,300. has been raised so far to send SOZO kids to camp this summer. WOW! Thank you for your generosity in giving. We will be taking offerings in Adult Sunday School for SOZO until the end of May if you would still like to help us send these kids to camp.

April 2011 Update

Thank you for giving to the victims of the earthquake in Japan. We raised $1,700 for those in need. For the remainder of the spring, our Helping the Hurting project will help send kids from the Hilltop area of Tacoma to summer camp, in connection with Doug Jonson and Tacoma Youth For Christ.

Praise the Lord! We have completed our latest Helping the Hurting Project which raised money for two wells to be dug in Africa. Until our next Helping the Hurting Project is announced, all Sunday School offerings will go to Samaritan’s Purse to aid the quake victims of Japan. Thank you to all who were able to help with this project.

New Helping the Hurting Project Begins October 17

“Every day, 5,000 children die from lack of clean drinking water, the victims of waterborne diseases and dehydration. In addition, more than 2.2 million people around the world die every year from drinking disease-laden water. Many women walk for miles each day seeking water, usually dirty and polluted. The heavy containers cause neck and back injuries. They run the risk of being molested or attacked by wild animals.” CrossWay International

For the next several months, Helping the Hurting is teaming up with CrossWay International’s project CrossWay Water for Life to dig local wells that will provide safe, clean, life giving water throughout Kenya.

John 4:13-14 says: “Jesus answered, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’”

SOZO Our Helping the Hurting Project for Summer

On Sunday, August 16th the SOZO crew shared how the Lord worked in and through them at camp this summer.

For our Helping the Hurting Project for the summer we are partnering with SOZO a youth church in the Hilltop area of Tacoma to help raise funds to send at risk kids to camp. An offering is taken each week in our adult Sunday School class. If you would like to help checks can be made out to Cedarhome Baptist, write SOZO in the lower left hand corner of the check.

Despite Lagging Economy, Community Generosity continues….

Despite the sagging economy and an unfinished multi-million dollar building project of their own, members of Cedarhome Baptist Church in Stanwood were able to raise over $10,000 for rescuing teenage moms and their babies caught in a web of human trafficking. Former congresswoman for Washington State, Linda Smith heads an organization called Shared Hope International took part of her vacation to come out and receive the symbolic $10,000 check that represented the giving of Cedarhome’s members over the last 6 months through everything from sales of prayer bracelets to the bake sale of 2nd grader Khyla Boyer (seen above) which brought in over $600.

Cedarhome’s next project – sending ‘high-risk’ kids from the Hilltop & Eastside areas of Tacoma to summer camp at Warm Beach. The goal is to help 50 kids attend camp this summer.

Mothers and Babies

Cedarhome is proudly partnering with Linda Smith and Shared Hope International in preventing, bringing rescue and bringing restoration to women and children caught in the web of human trafficking. We are raising money for the “Mothers and Babies” project. We take up a special collection during adult Sunday School class every week, but you are welcome to give anytime! Just make your check out to Cedarhome Baptist Church with “Helping the Hurting” or “Mothers and Babies” in the notation line. Watch out for further fundraisers, updates and news as well!
