Consider attending ‘The Art of Marriage’ on Feb 3rd & 4th.  This is a Family Life conference, sponsored by Island Baptist.  Online registration is easy at https://islandbaptistchurch.webconnex.com/art_of_marriage.  Cost is $50/couple (lunch included), and the event runs from 7-9:30pm on Friday and 9am-4pm on Saturday.

The Art of Marriage consists of six video sessions and an accompanying manual that provides couples with projects to help apply the principles taught during each session. The Art of Marriage brings together some of the most respected and influential pastors and experts on marriage and family all in one setting. It also brings a fresh approach to a video event by weaving together some of the following elements to help couples fully experience God’s design for marriage:

• real-life testimonies
• man-on-the-street interviews
• humorous vignettes

Just another reminder that instead of 2 services at 8:30 and 11 like usual, we will be combining and having just one single service at 10:00 this Sunday, January 1st, 2012.  There will be nursery and jr church but no Sunday School.  We will also be remembering the Lord’s supper, which is a great way to start off the year all together.  We are looking forward to seeing you there!

I hope you all had a great Christmas. Thanks to all of you who worked so hard to make Christmas services happen.

I have decided it would be good for all of us to take a break for a week, so no JAM, Dinner or Worship Practice tomorrow, Wednesday Dec 28th 2011.

Also, remember that we have just 1 service on Sunday, so you get to sleep in for an hour! If you are requested to come, just come on down at 8:30 for soundcheck and final run through. It will be cool to have everyone mixing from both services!

Congratulations to our Cedarhome teenagers for raising $400 to buy a cow for a family in Nicaragua! When Dean Chollar spoke in church about needing a cow in Nicaragua, we felt God calling us to raise money and buy it! May Jesus get all the glory for saving us and for working through us to love others in His name!

Come join us on Sunday, December 18th at 10 am as our children make the announcement of what Christmas is all about! Bring your cameras, aunts, uncles, grandparents & family friends.

Teachers and helpers Needed for Jr. Church at 11 am Service. Do you enjoy teaching kids about Jesus? We need teachers for 3-5 yr old and 6-9 yr old class to teach for a month at a time (or more). Please pray about it. Questions? Contact Debbie Klein 629-4295

Local businesses, schools, churches and individuals and families will come together to package meals for under-privileged children in coutries like Sierra Leone, Malawi, Uganda, Liberia, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic.

If you, your family or group would like to join us from 10-11:30AM on Saturday, December 10th to package food, please call 360-639-9258.  Or you can make a donation to change a child’s life.  Checks payable to Stanwood Foursquare Church/Children of the Nations.  For just 25 cents a meal, our community will make a difference in the lives of thousands of children.

Feed a child…change a life.

What if Missions Without Borders took the ministry one step further, not just doing missions at the migrant camps but also in the backyards of our community?  The whole idea is that you don’t have to go far to reach the lost!

“and that a change of hearts and lives and forgiveness of sins would be preached in his name to all nations, starting at Jerusalem.” Luke 24:47

What would it look like?  Think of the church serving together for a widow or for a family in need.  It could be anything from yard work to making meals for a family that doesn’t go to our church.  It could be a way for us to team together for Christ and to show His love to our neighbors.  There are so many creative ways we could serve!

The idea is to get a team of people together to look, seek and pray for opportunities in our community.  Then we would have a place to sign up (or send out an email) when there is a date, time and place set up to serve.  We could also challenge home groups to take on mini-missions where they could serve together as a group.

What an exciting way to teach our children and the church how to serve hands-on for the Lord in our community!
