Just to make sure the word gets out: no youth group, no Party at the Pastor’s, no “Impact Stanwood”. Everything is canceled due to the snow.
Stay home safe and warm.

Praise the Lord Cedarhome family! What a great week of Vacation Bible School we had! Everyday from 9:30-11:30 we had over 100 kids here learning about how much God loves them and having a blast doing it! Singing, dancing, games, balloons, beach balls, water, crafts, snacks, … we’re working on a highlight video so you can see all the fun that we will be showing in church. Also, we will be featuring the kids from VBS singing for us at the beginning of both the 8:30 and 11:00 services on Sunday, so come on out and smile them up and extend a special warm welcome to all the new neighborhood families that came! We’ll see for all that and more this Sunday! Be there!
Praise God!

Long-awaited photo directories are finally here! Pick up your copy at the Information Table on Sunday morning.
I am starting to experiment with my team by giving them access to nashville number charts instead of the usual chord charts. This has a number of advantages:
-learning to play from nashville number charts is an excellent helpful skill to learn. It’s not the standard in Nashville for no reason
-it’s a great way to help you understand theory better
-it helps you to learn to play in any key
-it’s another step in learning to MEMORIZE your music so you don’t need any on the platform.
I am moving more and more towards challenging my team to memorize their songs. On the platform I want them prepared well enough to be able to really free up their brain to listen to one another and to really engage with God and the congregation. Nothing like having your music memorized to help you get there.
And there’s nothing like understanding Nashville number system to help you memorize the simple patterns in our music.

Many times nashville numbers charts are actually clearer than trying to place chord letters up above the right word in the right spot. You can see the pattens much more clearly.
To see what I mean with both systems on one page: check this example out:

What do you think? Have you tried this? So far it’s been well received from my band. What is your experience?
Leave me some feedback y’all!
